If you appreciate quality and expect excellence, the R44 Raven is for you. The Raven offers the performance level of a costly turbine helicopter for the cost of a piston engine helicopter. Its racy look, impressive speed and unsurpassed reliability give it a competitive advantage in our ever changing world.
The R44 Raven is offered in two versions:
The Raven I offer the performances of a turbine helicopter, with a high level of reliability, a good fuel consumption, range and comfortable hydraulic controls for the cost of a piston engine helicopter. This version is also available with fixed floats as the Clipper I.
The Raven I can be described as affordable luxury. Standard equipment includes a precision RPM governor, a durable rotor brake, an auxiliary fuel system for greater range, a powerful heating/defrosting system and a hydraulic control system that completely eliminates the stick shake for a soft and relaxing flight.
Robinson’s engineers give a lot of importance to quality, reliability and performance, which makes the R44 Raven the best selling helicopter in the world. It suffers fewer accidents due to mechanical failures than any other light helicopters in the world, and furthermore, the Raven has the lowest seat-mile cost of any helicopter.
The high performance version of the R44, the Raven II, is designed to offer more payload, higher operating altitudes and increased speed while keeping the luxury of the Raven I. The newest R44 version, the aircraft is also offered as a Clipper II (with pop-out floats), a police helicopter and newscopter.
The Raven II is equipped with a more powerful fuel injection engine that eliminates carburetor icing altogether. The engine is derated to 245HP for 5 minutes and 205HP for maximum continuous power to prolong its life and lower the maintenance costs. The Raven II offers 100lbs more payload than a Raven I and higher out of ground effect and in ground effect ceilings.
The Raven II is also characterized by a lowered noise level. The helicopter is equipped with redesigned main and tail rotor blades featuring new end caps that cut the noise. The main rotor blades have increased surface to generate more lift at altitude.
